Sales Manager (US Territory)
We are looking for a technical Sales Manager to join our US team.
Responsibilities
- Manage the sales and relationship activities with the company’s existing accounts as well as identify and develop new accounts
- Managing key accounts
- Facilitate business development through customer visits and demos, building relationships with customers and key influencers
- Generate and follow up on new leads
- Educate customers on the company’s products
- Define and internally communicate a full understanding of the customer’s needs and technical requirements
- Present technical proposals, negotiate orders, and coordinate meetings with the customer
- Devise a strategic sales & marketing plan for your assigned geographic territory and focus markets
- Attend trade shows and other industry events
- Provide market input to the business units on competition, trends, and applications
- Performs all other duties as assigned
This is a remote position with up to 50% travel.
Qualifications
- B.S. or equivalent in Optics, Engineering or Physics (preferred), or other technical or scientific field
- Five years related experience in field/technical sales in optical instruments
- Automotive or AR/VR market experience preferred
- Knowledge of optical systems, test & measurement, metrology equipment ideal
- Strong contacts and network in optics and photonics
- Prospector/Cultivator mentality

JOB DESCRIPTION
This position is based at our U.S. Production Center located in beautiful Rancho Cucamonga, CA. Trioptics Inc. offers an enriching environment with unlimited opportunities for technical development and the freedom to operate independently.
In your role as Procurement Specialist, you will build vendor relationships to secure the best prices on products for our company. You will provide accurate and timely purchase order processing and ETA status updates while maintaining inventory control and compliance with all corporate policies and procedures. Manage suppliers to reduce costs, improve quality, control inventories and ensure timely flow of material.
EXPERIENCE
- Minimum of 5 years purchasing, supply chain or sourcing experience in a manufacturing environment and developing supply chain relationships.
- Intuit QuickBooks proficiency a must.
- Experience working in a optical, electrical and mechanical component environment is a plus.
- Imports, supply chain and sales allocation experience are preferred.
- Strong analytical and negotiation skills
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Assertive, self-assured purchasing professional that has a demonstrated history of excelling in a manufacturing environment.
- Past MRP / ERP experience is a must.
- Strong leadership, project management and tracking skills coupled with the ability to work with project teams to development supply chain planning and sourcing to support project material needs.
- Requires strong knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Computerized MRP systems.
- Good communication, interpersonal and organizational skills, the ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines and work independently
DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES
- Create purchase orders for material to meet production site needs.
- Performing necessary follow-up and expediting with suppliers and carriers to meet production and project schedules.
- Processing PO’s upon receipt of proper authorization for operating supplies for all departments of the company.
- Maintaining an active and alternate list of acceptable suppliers and vendors.
- Audits and enforces warehouse inventory counts on a regular basis and provides reports to management.
- Communicating with planning team to establish reorder points and reserve levels.
- Scheduling material to meet production and inventory requirements. Track inventory and restock goods investigates inventory discrepancies and inventory shortages as well as transfer issues or other item discrepancies.
- Kitting of parts for all production instruments.
- Support meetings with suppliers to discuss contacts, price negotiations, lead-time issues, open order status, and new product lines.
- Monitor and report key performance metrics, including Purchase Price Variance, inventories, shortages, and supplier performance.
- Provide reporting, KPI updates, and metric data for supply chain.
- Develop thorough working knowledge of assigned commodities and associated supplier base.
- Other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Logistics or Supply Management.
- Proficient with Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and QuickBooks and able to learn proprietary software quickly
- Purchasing or Supply chain Management experience with optical and mechanical components and their assembly is a PLUS.
- Hands-on, self-motivated and comfortable working with minimal supervision.
- US citizenship is required in compliance with ITAR regulations

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Works majority of the day in a climate controlled environment, with the exception of occasionally performing work in the warehouse, which is subject to moderate changes in temperature.

In your role as Service & Applications Engineer, you will work along side our internal engineering and R&D teams located in Germany to ensure our customers get the optimal Trioptics solution for their application. To be successful in this role must you be inquisitive, self-motivated and comfortable working with minimal supervision.
You will be engaged in all stages of the sales process: from discussing applications with customers, proof-of-concept studies, discussing instrument configurations, performing installation, conducting training at the customer site to after-sales support. We expect you to establish and maintain strong working relationships throughout all levels of the Trioptics internal and external organizations.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Identify customer’s needs and sales opportunities and suggest technical solutions for optical metrology and production equipment
- Travel to customer sites to perform installations, training, calibrations, equipment moves, repairs, maintenance, and other required product support services
- Build and maintain expert level of product and application knowledge for several Trioptics product lines
- Maintain accurate records of work performed
- Resolve customer service issues or difficulties
- Maintain professional business relationships with customers
- Provide status of ongoing projects and future projects to Management
- Provide product demonstrations and support engineering center testing and measurement services.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- BA/BS in Optics, Physics, Optical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering
- Minimum 3 years industry experience, preferably in an Optics field
- Ability to read and understand optical, mechanical and electrical drawings and documentation
- Strong communication, interpersonal and organizational skills
- US citizenship is required in compliance with ITAR regulations
- >40% travel is required
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 5 – 7 years industry experience, preferably in an Optics field.
- Direct experience working with one or more Trioptics instruments.
- Customer Service, Field Service or Applications Engineering.
- Working knowledge of optical components and systems testing with specific experience performing MTF, interferometric and collimator-based optical system testing.
- Previous experience as an Optical Engineer or Optical Systems Engineer.

In your role as Opto-Mechanical Engineer, you will work alongside our internal engineering, and R&D teams located in Germany to ensure our customers get the optimal Trioptics solution for their application. To be successful in this role you must be inquisitive, self-motivated, and comfortable working with minimal supervision.
You will lead the preparation of manufacturing and assembly instructions; creation of work plans and develop work processes for alignment, testing and prototype development using Trioptics instruments. You will frequently interface with Trioptics Sales, Optical and Software engineering preparing specifications, models and release documentation. You will also lead the certification of optical measurement prototypes and mechanical fixtures.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supporting equipment installations, developing preventive maintenance processes and conducting equipment root cause evaluations at customer sites.
- Designing, developing, selecting, and procuring mechanical assemblies and testing aids.
- Create, approve, revise, and maintain design documentation.
- You will perform the role of CAD lead for the entire Trioptics drawing portfolio and utilizing configuration management best practices.
- Identify product/service innovations and develop, quote, and implement solutions to meet customer technical requirements for the utilization of Trioptics Test instrumentation.
- Travel to customer sites to support installations, conduct training, and assist with test process development.
- Build and maintain an expert level of product and application knowledge for Trioptics & Davidson product lines.

- BS in Mechanical Engineering.
- Minimum 5 years industry experience.
- Experience designing mechanical fixtures and tooling to meet specifications and tight tolerances.

- Proven prototype development and hands-on lab skills.
- Development and documentation of Manufacturing test and assembly procedures.
- Recent experience using CAD (Solidworks, ProE, CREO, Catia, etc.) in the design of optical, mechanical assemblies, test fixtures, and alignment aids.
- Proficient in product definition, documentation release and technical writing.

- Experience with automated positioning systems and mechanisms.
- Knowledge of the mechanical considerations for the environmental effects on optical systems.
- Experience with thermal, structural, and flow analysis using Finite Element Analysis (FEA) techniques.
- Direct experience working with one or more Trioptics instruments.
- Extensive knowledge of optical components and systems testing with specific experience performing MTF, interferometric and collimator-based optical system testing.
